Christmas is coming, which means there will be colder weather along with plenty of cheer and family time. What events are going on this Christmas season in the Allen, Texas, you ask? Below are some of our favorite Christmas oriented activities in Allen as well as a few that are just a short drive outside of the city.
Seeing Santa is a must for families every holiday season so that the kids can tell Jolly Ole’ St. Nick what they want for Christmas. The obligatory photo must also be taken, possibly with a kid crying hysterically in Santa’s lap, making it the ideal, comical Christmas card to email out to friends and family. Check the times for when Santa will be stopping by the Fairview Town Center here.
If singing all those fantastic Christmas songs is more your speed for a night out during the holidays, consider joining up with a group in McKinney to go caroling around town. You’ll not only get to release all of your holiday cheer, but you’ll get to spread it to others.
A great activity for the whole family, but an even better activity for a couple, the ice skating rink at the Allen Community Ice Rink is an excellent holiday activity in the area. It’s a five dollar admission and three dollars for skate rental, but if you bring some canned food to donate, you’ll get your skates for free.
Everything’s bigger in Texas, especially their holiday light mazes and the one in Arlington is the World’s biggest this holiday season. Even though it's a little drive from Allen, this light maze is well worth the trip for everyone who visits, really immersing everyone in the holiday spirit. The maze will be open after Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve.
12 Days of Christmas
If you head into the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, you can always experience the now famous holiday tradition of The 12 Days of Christmas, which will inundate all visitors with as much Christmas spirit as they can handle. This outdoor exhibit features 500,000 lights decorating historic Dallas homes, a 30 feet tree at its center and, of course, Santa himself. The exhibit is open from the day after Thanksgiving until January 7th.
