What Your Beer Preference Says About You

What Your Beer Preference Says About You

Did you know that an important holiday is just around the corner? Many people are unaware of National Beer Day, which is celebrated on April 7th. This is the date that President Franklin D. Roosevelt repealed the National Prohibition Act in 1933.

For 13 years prior to that date, drinking beer or other alcoholic beverages was against the law in the United States. It is said that in the first 24 hours after Prohibition was ended on April 7th, more than 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed across the nation. Just imagine trying to sing your way through that volume of bottles of beer on the wall!

Early Recognition of National Beer Day

Even after Prohibition had come to an end, garnering support for a holiday centered on beer was something of a tough sell. The date did not begin to receive significant attention until 2003 when the Brewer's Association of America promoted an event called New Beers Eve. The event focused on educating people about the negative effects of Prohibition, such as the creation of a dangerous criminal element that made money controlling black market alcohol.

Today, however, many breweries and bars across the country host events to celebrate National Beer Day, complete with parties, entertainment and drink specials. At Papa Lopez Mexican Cantina, we welcome you to come out on April 7th and show your love of all things beer, although we would argue that there is no need for a special day to enjoy a well-crafted beer.

April 7th - We will be offering $2 Pints ALL DAY LONG and a few other specials as well... Guess you'll just have to stop by and see for yourself!

We're offering $2 pints all day for National Beer Day!
